Wix SEO services

We provide SEO services for Wix websites and stores - from landing pages and portfolios to full ecommerce sites on Wix Stores. We know the platform's strengths, its SEO capabilities, and its limits. We help owners drive organic traffic without having to switch to another CMS.

Wix is no longer "bad for SEO" - but the platform's potential only opens up with the right approach

We break down your site, the type of Wix project, the plan, and the competitive landscape - then build a growth strategy with concrete stages.

Wix specifics that affect the SEO result

Wix isn't a regular CMS - it's a drag-and-drop builder with its own logic. That makes SEO work different from what you'd do on WordPress or open platforms. Understanding these 8 points helps you properly assess the growth potential.

Knowing these specifics is often what separates Wix sites that grow in organic from those stuck at the same positions for years.

/ Platform reputation
The "Wix is bad for SEO" stereotype no longer holds

Before 2017 Wix really did have serious indexing issues. After dynamic rendering and the Wix SEO Wiz rolled out, the situation changed dramatically. Today Wix sites can compete in Google on par with other platforms - but the old stereotype still keeps owners from investing in SEO.

/ Project type
Wix vs Wix Studio - different platforms with different capabilities

Classic Wix is built for users without technical skills. Wix Studio is a newer platform for agencies with broader code access, responsive design, and a better CMS. Some SEO tasks are easy in Wix Studio but impossible in classic Wix. Before any planning, we identify which version your site is on.

/ SEO Wiz
The built-in tool only covers the basics

The Wix SEO Wiz helps you set up titles, descriptions, alt tags, and the sitemap. But it's basic - it doesn't address content strategy, link building, multilingual setups, or complex schema markup. Stores that rely only on SEO Wiz rarely break past low-volume queries.

/ Velo and customization
JavaScript extensions unlock additional capabilities

Velo by Wix is a built-in JavaScript platform for extending functionality. It lets you add custom schema markup, complex filtering logic, and integrations with external APIs. Most standard Wix sites don't touch Velo - but it's exactly what closes the gap between Wix and full CMS in complex SEO tasks.

/ URL structure
Wix offers more flexibility than Shopify but less than WordPress

Unlike Shopify, on Wix you can edit page URLs and drop unnecessary prefixes. But a deep URL restructuring requires working with domain settings and redirects through the Wix admin. Mistakes here lead to lost rankings - the right URL strategy is shaped at the start of the project.

/ Site speed
Wix templates often drag Core Web Vitals down

Wix templates are visually impressive but often load a lot of unused code that slows the site down. Basic optimizations through the Wix admin help, but you don't get full control over CSS and JS. Hitting the green Core Web Vitals zone often means changing the template or moving to Wix Studio.

/ Dynamic pages
Database collections generate pages from a template

Wix supports dynamic pages through databases - one template generates hundreds of pages from collection data. It's a powerful tool for catalogs, blogs, and service databases. But without proper SEO setup, every entry ends up with duplicated meta tags and H1. Dynamic pages work is a scope of its own.

/ Multilingual
Wix Multilingual has its own hreflang quirks

Wix Multilingual automatically generates hreflang tags and the URL structure for language versions. But the configuration options are limited - you can't always close duplicates or set geo targeting properly. On multilingual Wix sites we regularly find cross-language cannibalization that has to be closed through Velo or manually.

The D&Team approach

How we approach Wix projects

We don't try to bend WordPress or Shopify playbooks to fit Wix. The platform has its own logic, and working with it takes separate experience and a different toolkit - especially for advanced SEO tasks.

/01/
We work with both versions - classic Wix and Wix Studio
In practice we have experience with both platforms. We know which SEO tasks can be solved on classic Wix and which need the move to Studio. We'll tell you straight when the migration pays off and when the current version is enough.
/02/
We use Velo to extend SEO capabilities
We have hands-on experience with Velo by Wix - the JavaScript platform for customization. Through Velo we add custom schema markup, fix canonicals for dynamic pages, integrate analytics, and implement complex filter logic. This closes the gap between Wix's limits and complex SEO tasks.
/03/
Audit focused on Wix specifics
A standard SEO audit doesn't work on Wix - you have to check things that don't exist on other platforms: dynamic pages configuration, Wix Multilingual setup, current template limits, whether Velo is in play. We run a full audit on 80+ parameters relevant specifically to Wix.

Which Wix site owners we work with best

Wix fits a wide range of projects - from a single-service landing page to a full ecommerce store. Here are the situations where our work delivers the biggest impact.

Owners of Wix service sites (legal, medical, education, B2B) who get leads from ads and want to add an organic channel
Wix Stores shops with 100+ products where baseline SEO isn't enough for competitive growth
Site owners who migrated from WordPress or another platform to Wix and saw rankings drop after the move
Brands with a multilingual Wix site running into cannibalization or indexing issues on specific language versions
Sites with dynamic pages (real estate listings, service databases, clinic portals) running into indexing issues or duplicate meta tags
Owners working on Wix Studio who need professional work with theme code, Velo, and complex SEO architecture

When SEO for Wix won't lead to the expected result

An honest read on situations where our work on Wix won't justify the budget - or where the problem runs deeper than SEO and needs another solution.

Site on the free Wix plan with platform ads in the footer - SEO isn't possible until you upgrade to Premium
The owner chose a heavy visually-driven template (with full-screen animations, for example) but isn't open to changing it - some speed tasks will stay unsolved
Business in a competitive niche (legal, insurance, real estate, finance, medical) on a small budget - breaking into the top against well-funded competitors is hard even with perfect SEO
Site uses Wix Bookings or Wix Stores but has fewer than 50 items (services or products) - organic often doesn't pay off compared to direct ads
Owner on classic Wix who isn't open to considering migration to Wix Studio even when it's needed - some tasks will go unsolved
Expecting results in 2 months - rarely works out: a Wix site typically shows the first noticeable shifts around month 4-6
Site ignores mobile adaptation - the weight of the mobile view in Google has grown, and without it SEO stalls even on Wix Studio
A migration from Wix to another platform planned within the next 6 months - investments in Wix-specific optimization won't have time to pay off

Workflow sequence on a Wix project

Each step builds on the result of the previous one. Without diagnostics there's no proper strategy, and without a strategy technical fixes won't produce a cumulative effect in organic.

7 stages from the first meeting to systematic results in traffic, leads, and sales.

/01
/ Getting to know your Wix project and goals

First meeting - we walk through your goals, the project type (store, services, portfolio, blog), current customer acquisition channels, geography, and niche. SEO without business context turns into technical work for technical work's sake.

/02
/ Wix version and configuration check

Before running the full audit, we check: classic Wix or Wix Studio, which template, which apps are active, whether Velo is in use, whether Wix Multilingual is configured. This step gives a realistic read on the available SEO levers.

/03
/ In-depth SEO audit with a Wix focus

A full audit accounting for the platform's specifics: SEO Wiz setup, dynamic pages, language versions, template speed, Velo extensions in use. The output is a report with prioritized tasks and a forecast for each one.

/04
/ Drafting a prioritized work plan

Based on the audit and the semantic core, we shape the growth strategy. We align with you: whether to change the template, whether to move to Wix Studio, whether to actively use Velo, what sequence of work to follow over the next 3 months.

/05
/ Working around platform SEO limits

The first 4-6 weeks are about closing what's blocking growth: meta tag setup, URL structure fixes, baseline speed optimization, language version setup, Schema.org rollout through Velo.

/06
/ Ongoing work on content and organic traffic

We launch the ongoing work: SEO copy for key pages, rewriting dynamic pages, regular blog articles, link building through outreach. This stage runs continuously and brings the bulk of the traffic gains.

/07
/ Monthly reporting and course review

Each month - a report on actual results with the plan for the next period. Once a quarter - a strategy meeting where we revisit the bigger calls: is the template still right, do we migrate to Wix Studio, what to add to the scope.

Frequently asked questions

Below you'll find answers to the most common questions worth reviewing before we start working together
Is it true that Wix indexes poorly in Google?

It's an outdated myth. Before 2017 Wix really did have serious indexing issues caused by JavaScript rendering. After the move to dynamic rendering the situation changed dramatically - today Wix sites get indexed on par with WordPress or Shopify. You can see Wix sites at the top of the SERP across different niches. The stereotype lingers, but the reality has moved on.

Which is better for SEO - classic Wix or Wix Studio?

Wix Studio offers more: full control over responsive design, a better CMS, broader code access. For projects with more than 50 pages, multilingual setups, or complex catalog architecture, Studio is usually the right call. For smaller service sites or portfolios, classic Wix is plenty. In the audit we tell you straight whether the migration is justified in your specific case.

Can we move a site from WordPress to Wix without losing rankings?

You can, but it has to be done right. The main risks: URL structure change, lost canonical logic, meta tag shifts during the move. Before migration we prepare a 301 redirect map, test new URLs in the Wix admin, and monitor indexing through Search Console. The first 2-3 weeks after migration always show a dip - that's normal, and rankings recover by week 4-6.

How does SEO for Wix Stores differ from a regular Wix site?

Wix Stores adds separate product, collection, and checkout pages. Here SEO sits closer to ecommerce logic: product page optimization, Product schema markup, rewritten descriptions, work with filters. A regular Wix site is more often about services and informational content - the focus shifts to service pages, local SEO, blog content. The strategy is tailored to the specific type.

Is Velo worth using for SEO?

It depends on the project. For a small service site, Wix SEO Wiz is usually enough. For projects with dynamic pages, complex schema markup, multilingual setups, or external API integrations - Velo becomes essential. It's a full JavaScript platform, so it takes development hours. We don't push Velo as a cure-all - we use it only where it actually moves the needle.

How do you work with dynamic pages in Wix to avoid duplicates?

Dynamic pages are generated from database collections, so by default they all use one meta tag template. That creates hundreds of pages with the same title and description. The strategy: through the Wix admin we configure dynamic parameters in the meta tags (for example, {Title} and {City} instead of static text). For complex cases we use Velo for full control over the generation.

How much does SEO for a Wix site cost?

Wix budgets depend on the project type: a single-service landing page calls for a minimal scope, a multi-page site with dynamic pages or Wix Stores - significantly more. We also factor in Velo development needs if they apply. In the initial consultation we discuss your goals and the scope, and after the audit we give a concrete range with a breakdown of every cost line.

How quickly will a Wix site start getting organic traffic?

Technical fixes show up in the first 3-4 weeks - speed, corrected meta tags, new schema markup. The first ranking shifts come around weeks 8-10. Systematic traffic growth starts from month 4-6. Wix service sites often show results faster than stores because local SEO is less competitive and needs less link equity.

Can we keep running Google Ads alongside SEO?

Not only can you - we recommend it. SEO has a compounding effect over months; ads bring leads and sales today. While SEO works its way up to solid positions, ads feed the business. Once organic stabilizes, you can shift part of the budget toward organic and bring acquisition cost down.

Can Wix be integrated with external SEO tools?

Yes, this is a common task. Wix supports Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel, and Hotjar through standard admin integrations. For more complex tasks (Ahrefs API connection, Looker Studio, custom conversion tracking events) we use Velo to implement the required code. Setting up external tools is one of the first technical steps we take at the start of a project.
